Russ Winner is active in the Alaska Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Native Law Section, the Natural Resources/Environmental Section, and the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Alaska Bar Association. He is past chair of the Alaska Action Trust, working with the Alaska legislature on legislation of interest to Alaska's trial attorneys. He served on the Bar Examiners' Committee of the Alaska Bar Association. Russ is a member of the Downtown Anchorage Rotary Club and serves on its Youth Exchange Committee. He has coached youth hockey and soccer in the Anchorage community.

Mike Shaffer is actively involved with the statewide high school mock trial program, and conducts regular wills and probate clinics sponsored by the Alaska Pro Bono Program for low-income individuals and seniors in the Anchorage community. Mike also serves on the board of the Alaska Teaching Justice Network. He is a past board member of the Anchorage Bar Association, and past treasurer of the Young Lawyer’s Section of the Anchorage Bar.
